A New Little Book To Celebrate!

I am happy to announce the arrival of this most current children's book I've illustrated.  It was written by Marcia Thornton Jones, and published by Cartwheel Books, Scholastic, Inc.

It is sometimes quite a journey from first being invited to illustrate a book, and then to begin on the sketches, create the dummy (a mock-up book),  and then to get started on the finished artwork.

One of the most enjoyable parts of working on this book was the research involved.  Living in a consistently warmer climate, I had to learn all about what frost is!

When the story begins with, "In the last little village right before the North Pole. . .", one had better give serious consideration to what that neighborhood might look like!

A children's book illustrator's primary responsibility is to enhance,
or illuminate the words of the story with their images.
This was such a delightful book to work on, and I hope many children will enjoy it,
even if it feels anything but frosty outside!
